Police arrests OFW Kathy Dupaya for grave oral defamation case filed by Joel Cruz

Taguig City Police have arrested Brunei-based businesswoman Kathelyn “Kathy” Dupaya on September 20 following the grave oral defamation case filed by “Lord of Scents” Joel Cruz against her.

Dupaya is currently detained at the Taguig City Police Station headquarters and entertainment website PEP.ph shared a copy of the business woman’s mugshot.

It can be recalled that Cruz filed a P20 million libel suit after the latter claimed that the perfume magnate gave her expired perfumes.

Aside from the libel case, Cruz also filed an estafa case against the Brunei-based OFW at the Department of Justice sa Quezon City on May 24.

Cruz filed the case after he was unable to retrieve his investment to Dupaya’s business worth P40 million.

“Starting December 5, 2017 up to now, wala na siyang ibinigay na interes na promise niya na may six percent interest sa Philippine money na PHP29,750,000, plus $200,000.

“Kung nasa PHP52 ngayon ang exchange rate, nasa PHP40 million pesos na lahat-lahat,” Cruz previously said in an interview with Mario Dumaual for TV Patrol

Aside from Cruz, other celebrities, including Sunshine Cruz, Ara Mina, Dianne Medina, and Ynez Veneracion, have also claimed that they have fallen victim to Dupaya’s investment scam.
