Filipino electronics engineers in UAE converge for IECEP UAE 2025 GMM and Convention

Over 60 UAE-based Filipino electronics engineers gathered in Abu Dhabi for the 17th Annual General Membership Meeting and Convention of the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines – UAE Chapter (IECEP UAE).

Held on Nov. 29 under the theme “Innovating Beyond Boundaries: The Power of Engineering Minds,” the daylong event offered a dynamic lineup of technical sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities designed to foster professional growth among members of the organization, officially open by Engr. Mark Nhel Gasangue, IECEP UAE Chapter Governor.

Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso Ferdinand Ver attended the event, along with distinguished guests from the Philippines who shared international perspectives on the evolving role of electronics engineers in the UAE.

The technical sessions featured several engaging presentations, including Dr. Lory Liza Bulay-og who spoke on “Beyond Technical Skills: The Engineer as a Global Leader,” highlighting the global mindset that Filipino engineers should cultivate to become effective leaders.

Dr. Maria Cecilia Pangan also presented “Mind over Machine: The Mental Health of Filipino Engineers,”while Engr. Claudio Lao also shared insights in “AXIS Innovation and End-to-End Solutions.”

Attendees also earned applied Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points, an important credential for career advancement.

Plaques of appreciation were awarded to speakers, and 2025 SPLE passers were recognized. The convention concluded with the nomination and election of IECEP UAE officers for 2026 and the presentation of the Annual General Membership and Financial Reports.
