Singers Darren Espanto and JK Labajo engaged in an online word-war after the latter allegedly called his fellow The Voice Kids alumnus “gay” on Twitter.
It all started when Espanto called out Labajo for allegedly posting a now-deleted tweet which reads, “@Espanto2001 gayness at its finest.”
Labajo, on the other hand, defended himself and said that his Twitter account got hacked and that he did not post the said tweet that offended Espanto.
“Timing ‘no? Dinelete ng ‘hacker’ mo yung tweet na ‘to after kang kausapin ng management. ‘Pag nahanap mo ‘yung hacker mo, puntahan niyo ako para malaman niyo kung sino yung totoong bakla,” Espanto wrote on Twitter while sharing a screenshot of Labajo’s tweet.

After Espanto posted the said tweet, Labajo then shared screenshot his private conversation thread with Espanto wherein he explained that other people can also access his Twitter account so he has no idea who posted the “gayness at its finest” tweet.
“Just so you know hindi ako yun. Ask MCA if you don’t believe me. Someone else is using my Twitter account. So you better tell your fans and/or family to calm… down because the last thing I… want is to be accused of something I didn’t… do,” Labajo said.
Labajo added that the said tweet might be “edited” just to spark a controversy between them.
At press time, Labajo has deleted the screenshots of their conversation.
But the singer continued to stand his ground and said that he will not apologize to Espanto since he did not do such accusations. Instead, he just thanked his fans and excused himself for using explicit language while defending himself.
Sorry for using “bakla”
Earlier today, October 23, Espanto said sorry for using the word “bakla” in his previous tweet that might have offended some of his fans who are part of the LGBTQ community.
“I didn’t mean to use the word “bakla” as a derogatory term. I’m sorry if this has offended anyone. And to the people who say I have “fragile masculinity”? I’ve been bashed with this since I was in The Voice Kids (I was 12) pero wala kayong narinig. I’m 17 now, kakapagod na rin,” he said.
Espanto also did not buy Labajo’s defence and called him out once again.
“Since pinost mo na din naman yung chat natin dito (which you’ve deleted), nung una hacker, ngayon edited? Pero nag appear sa mismong account mo? And even if I wasn’t the one you were talking about in PBB, hindi parin tama ang magsalita ng masama tungkol sa iba,” he said.
Espanto even threatened to sue his fellow singer.
“Hindi ako lalaban sa’yo pagdating sa bastusan kasi alam ko naman na bastos ka gaya ng sabi mo. Wag mo rin sasabihin na tinuring mo akong kapatid nung The Voice kasi ang plastic nun. Sa korte nalang tayo magkita kung di ka masyadong busy. Sikat mo na eh, “brother”!” he said.
Labajo has since stopped posting tweets about the issue.
