Three islands in the Philippines – Siargao, Boracay, and Palawan – are named as the best islands in Asia, as per travel and lifestyle magazine Condé Nast Traveler.
Siargao, Boracay, and Palawan placed first, second, and third respectively in the “Top 5 islands in Asia” category. Completing the top 5 are Langkawi in Malaysia, and Bali in Indonesia.
Siargao, described by the list as a “teardrop-shaped Philippine island home to more than 15 separate surf breaks”, was deemed as the best island in Asia for surfing and its white beaches.
Meanwhile, Boracay, one of the most popular islands in the country, was noted for its “gentle coastlines and made-for-Instagram sunsets.” The island was also noted for its active nightlife.
Claiming the third spot, Palawan was praised for the “otherworldly Puerto Princesa Subterranean River.” Palawan is also one of the islands that is often featured in the annual list.
Other islands that topped other regions include Whitsunday Island in Australia (Australia and the South Pacific category), Bermuda Island (Caribbean and the Atlantic category), Mykonos in Greece (Europe category), Isla Holbox in Mexico (North America category), and Maldives (Rest of the world category).
