The proposed logo of the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, which will be held in the Philippines next year, drew negative feedbacks from netizens over the past few days.
Foreign Affairs Secretary and Chair of the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) Alan Peter Cayetano unveiled the logo during the general assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia and it instantly drew flak on social media.
The said logo features 11 circles of various shapes and colors made to appear in the shape of the Philippine map.
“Our logo will be the 11 circles representing the 11 countries bound together in the shape of the Philippines to symbolize that wherever and whenever the games are played, we are one and we will as one,” CNN Philippines quoted Cayetano as saying.
However, many netizens were not pleased with how it looks with many of them saying that it lacked effort and conceptualization.

I am a fan of minimalist art in graphic design, and though some pieces of digital art may seem to "lack effort", they can still be beautiful and meaningful. BUT THE 2019 SEA GAMES LOGO??? It lacked sense, soul, culture, and identity.

There were also some netizens who took the initiative to come up with alternative logos in lieu of the original one.
So the SEA Games (South East Asian Games) 2019 Logo has been officially released and unfortunately it gets mixed reactions online. Therefore, this is what I came up with.#SEAGames2019 #Philippines2019 #SeaGames #Sipa #LaroNgLahi #LarongPinoyToTheWorld #TeamPhilippines pic.twitter.com/sYCkYlfPje

Philippine 2019 Sea Games logo mockup.
Did this in less than 15 minutes. The official one looks like we didn’t even try to put effort. Shame. pic.twitter.com/P8z66Gc89j

Here's my own take on the logo for the upcoming Philippines 30th SEA Games for the upcoming year of 2019.
The idea is to create a minimalistic logo with the same concept as the original. pic.twitter.com/9FYErjHWS7

Well, this could have been a better 2019 SEA Games logo. See? Kunting improvement lang sana. Yung parang pinag-isipan man lang. ?

The biennial sports event will be returning to the Philippines after 13 years after it was previously held in the country last 2005. The events are scheduled to take place from November 29 to December 10, 2019.
