The son of an overseas Filipino worker from San Mateo, Isabela topped this year’s graduating batch of Candidate Soldiers Course at the 5th Infantry Division last July 21.
With an average of 89.88, Jay-R Almodovar encompassed both academic and non-academic requirements of the course, reported PIA.
Almodovar, along with 242 soldiers celebrated the completion of their military training attended by their relatives.
Major General Perfecto Rimando Jr, commanding general of 5th Infantry Division, led the ceremony calling the new soldiers “Sandatahang may Dignidad, Maaasahan at Maabilidad” or SANDIGMA.
Rimando also reminded men and women in uniform to protect the Filipino people.
Of the 243 new soldiers, 87 are degree holders and 20 of them have professional licenses, 43 are college level and the rest are vocational and high school graduates with special skills.
