DOT appoints former PAL chief, two others as undersecretaries

The Department of Tourism has appointed former Philippine Airlines president Stanley Ng and tourism executives Maria Victoria Jasmin and Ma. Dionesa Rivera-Guillermo as its newest undersecretaries.

Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay named Ng to lead the department’s Halal Tourism and Muslim Concerns office.

Jasmin will oversee the Tourism Regulation, Coordination, and Resource Generation office, while Rivera-Guillermo will serve as undersecretary for Administration and Finance.

In a statement, the Department of Tourism said the three officials bring extensive experience from both the public and private sectors that will help strengthen the agency’s programs and partnerships.

The department said the appointments are expected to support efforts to build a more competitive, inclusive, and sustainable tourism industry.

Jasmin previously served as a DOT undersecretary under former Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr., where she helped improve the country’s hotel and accommodation classification system to align with international standards.

Rivera-Guillermo previously served as deputy director general of the Government Procurement Policy Board-Technical Support Office.

The DOT said it looks forward to working with the new officials in advancing initiatives that will benefit tourism stakeholders, local communities, and travelers.
