Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) will have to wait for three more months before they can use the Department of Labor Employment (DOLE)’s identification system which will replace the Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) replacement.
DOLE Secretary Silvestro Bello said the OFW ID, a component of the Integrated DOLE (iDOLE) system will undergo a three-month pilot run to streamline its guidelines.
Bello said APO Printing Unit, a government-run highly-sensitive security printing service provider, was tasked to manufacture the OFW ID cards. APO is also printing Philippine passports.
Once the guidelines have been finalized, OFWs can create an account on the iDOLE One-Stop Online Facility/Portal (iDOLE.ph) to access their government records electronically.
“All the unique ID cards will be delivered to them whether they are in the Philippines or overseas. [Our] Bagong Bayani will no longer need to fall in line with transacting with government and private agencies for their employment as they can now access the services online,” Bello added.
