Residents and unit owners in buildings covered by the new SOS system in Dubai will be able to call on authorities at a click in cases of emergencies, Khaleej Times reported.
Aside from the new system, the Dubai Civil Defence likewise wants to bring down emergency response time from eight minutes to four by soon launching a 29-man operations room that will monitor airports, ships, cars and buildings.
“According to officials, this will enhance emergency response times and reduce losses, as well as helping the Dubai Civil Defence ensure that necessary safety systems are available and maintained on time,” read the report.
The report also said the new SOS system will first cover 58,823 buildings in Dubai and expand to 66,544 buildings by year-end. Alarm systems installation in all Dubai homes are also sought mandated. A draft law is with the Dubai Civil Defence, said the report.
