UAE companies open thousands of new jobs

DUBAI: Need a job or do you know of someone who does? Here’s good news. There are thousands of job vacancies now available at different companies in the UAE. From food and beverage firms to big hospitals and a theme park, opportunities abound as companies search for competitive individuals to be part of their teams.

Topping the list of job vacancies is the Dubai Parks and Resorts (DPR), which is set to open the region’s largest integrated theme park and resort on Shekh Zayed Road near the Dubai-Abu Dhabi border this month. According to the company’s website, DPR is currently in need of 100 new staff.

Vinit Shah, DPR chief management officer, had earlier told The Filipino Times they will be hiring 4,000 new employees to fill up the theme park’s manpower needs “When we open, we will have 4,000 employees.

We are trying to see how many we could fill locally and then we’ll look elsewhere,” Shah said. He added that there would be no specific preference on nationalities. The 25-million sq. ft. DPR is composed of three theme parks, a water park, over 50 retail and food and beverage outlets and a 500- room hotel.

Expansion

Meantime, those with relatives back home looking for jobs will have something encouraging to tell them on their next Skype session: Little Manila, the Filipino-themedrestaurant in Muraqqabat, Deira will be expanding to Abu Dhabi soon and will be bringing on board close to 100 new employees from the Philippines.

Other expansion plans include Fujairah, Sharjah and one more in Dubai, according to Parvez Naqvi, International Business Development head of Al Ahli Holding Group, operator of Little Manila. “We are expanding immediately to Abu Dhabi and that should be open by January (2017), followed by a new branch in Fujairah; and also ,we do have two more branches to open – one in Dubai and one in Sharjah.” Ken Peralta, Little Manila brand manager further explained: “We will hire a total of 74 people from the Philippines – 50 employees for the first batch, 24 employees for the second batch.

Our company will send two of our administrative staff to interview and screen the applicants. Successful ones will undergo a one-month training in their Philippine branches, like Binalot in Megamall, first, before we send them to our Abu Dhabi branch.” Sous chef, restaurant manager, supervisor, food attendants, cashier, chef de partie, cook, baker, kitchen helper, storekeeper and data encoder are the positions available, according to Cherry Tarrayo, Little Manila human resource executive.

Meantime, four new staff are needed at 365 Restaurant to fill their current job vacancies for waiters, chefs and cashiers. “Sixty to 70 percent of our staff are Filipinos and we are targeting to hire more because we plan to open a new branch before the end of this month. But other nationalities are also welcome to apply for the positions,” said Ian Jasper Roxas, general manager of the restaurant.

The restaurant has four branches, one each in Al Nahdah 1, Rashidiya, Satwa and Karama where interested applicants can drop their curriculum vitae. As per the data posted on its website, the company is currently hiring 12 new staff to work as department head, marketing and advertising manager, merchandise manager, section manager, stocker, supervisor, central cashier office manager, maintenance manager, store financial controller, store IT manager and security manager One hundred positions are also available with “future” status,” which means “the job is available 2-3 months from now,” said Mohammed Hashim, the company’s director of human capital. More hirings

Three Filipina waitresses are needed at Fiesta Pinoy Restaurant according to Houssam Abdul Malak, owner. Fiesta Pinoy is known for its authentic Filipino cuisine and is located at Abu Baker Al Siddique Street on the corner of Al Rigga Street. For his part, Dr. Rajeev Pillai, head of marketing and corporate health service at Universal Hospital, said they are looking for additional Filipino doctors and technicians for their Kabayan Clinic project and other expansion plans.

“I cannot give specific details on how many, but we are definitely hiring Filipino doctors for the project,” he told The Filipino Times. Visit this link for more details. Meantime, it was also gathered that The Medical City (TMC) is set to open a new clinic in the first quarter of 2017. According to Nick Nangit, clinic head manager, TMC needs some 22 new staff: nine licensed nurses, nine licensed doctors and four administration personnel. Smart Shelter will be hiring 600 new staff wherein majority will be assigned sales tasks for the company’s upcoming branches, said Rohit Dalmia, managing director of Al Shamil Foodstuff Trading, which operates the shops located at the bus stops of the Road and Transport Authority (RTA).

“There are 100 locations where there are Smart Shelters now, which would be expanded to 200-400 locations over the next 2-3 years,” said Dalmia.
