The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) aims to make the artificial dolomite beach in Manila Bay swimmable this month.
“We are working hard so that the beach can be swimmable once more. That is why water treatment of Manila Bay has been continuing,” DENR Undersecretary Jonas Leones said in a report on PhilStar.
DENR said that water coming from major drainage outfalls being discharged into Manila Bay is currently being monitored.
The agency opened the beach to the public last December 28 and December 29.
A QR code must be scanned where people can set their appointment and will also serve as a health declaration form.
An email confirmation will be sent and they will be allowed to visit the artificial beach for an hour.
The dolomite beach will only accommodate 300 visitors at any given time. Those 11 years old and below are not allowed to enter the beach because they are not yet vaccinated against COVID-19.
