#SanaAll: OFWs react to husband saving up wife’s cash ‘padala’

Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have had their fair share of stories on how their remittances to the Philippines were used—some had good stories to share, while others were not as fortunate.

For instance, OFW Rodelyn Fortes was surprised by her husband, who saved P300,000 cash from the remittances she had been sending. With the money her husband saved, they were able to have their house renovated and buy a motorcycle and a sidecar.

Rodelyn’s story made other OFWs say #SanaAll, as they admired the OFW’s family’s dedication and discipline to save up her remittances.

“Sana lahat ng asawa ng mga OFW ay katulad ni Sir. Masinop, masipag, may malasakit. Hindi nasayang ang sakripisyo ni misis,” one netizen said.

An OFW in Dubai, meanwhile, said: “Sana all ang asawa ma diskarte, hindi aasa sa asawa na OFW.”

Other OFWs lamented how some families only use their remittances for their vices such as liquor and betting on cockfighting matches. Some, meanwhile, shared how their remittances are being used for luxury such as hair rebound and purchasing of expensive items.

“Ganito dapat, hindi yung puro pati pang rebond at facial inasa sa asawa. Dami pa utang ang asawa kumakain nalang ng shawarma,” an OFW said.

For them, even if their salaries are not much, it will become larger if their families will save up portions of it.

“Mapapa-sana all ka na lang talaga. Basta masinop po at walang bisyo, ganyan po ang mangyayari,” another OFW said.

“Lucky po kayo sa mister niyo, madiskarte at my pagpapahalaga sa hirap kumita ng pera, kahit maliit lang sahod niyo ng isang OFW,” she added. (NM)
