Bong Go rejects PDP-Laban endorsement for president in 2022

Senator Bong Go has rejected the endorsement of the PDP-Laban urging him to run for president in the 2022 elections.

Go was chosen by the faction headed by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi. President Rodrigo Duterte was Go’s supposed running mate in the 2022 polls.

“As much as I want to respond to the clamor of many of our partymates, I most respectfully decline the said endorsement. As I have said many times before, I am not interested in the presidency,” he said in a letter to Cusi.

There are currently two factions within PDP-Laban, the one endorsed by Cusi and the one led by Senator Manny Pacquiao and Koko Pimentel.

“I am deeply honored by the trust and confidence of the members of the NEC in my capability to run for the presidency in the coming 2022 elections,” Go said.

“I would rather devote my time and attention in helping the government and our people overcome this pandemic as soon as possible,” he added.

In 2018, Go said that he would not run for senator but ended up running in the 2019 senatorial race. (TDT)
