Dubai Police urged residents to keep their flats clean after 139 empty flats emanated foul smells due to stale and rotten foodstuff.

Between January 1 and May 31, 2021, the Dubai Police carried out their “Housing Security” programme, which links residential units to the force’s operations room to prevent burglaries and other untoward incidents.

To avoid such inspections, Dubai Police advises residents to keep their apartments clean and not leave decaying foodstuffs that would pollute the atmosphere, especially if are to vacate their homes.

The “Housing Security” programme was launched several years ago in the wake of burglaries occurring in summer months, when UAE residents and others often go on vacation or to their respective countries.

The police reported zero crimes in homes covered by their security programme, which has presently evolved into an artificial intelligence-powered mechanism with encouraging results.

As many as 5,000 homes are being managed by the Police through the AI-driven mechanism – that enables occupants to view inside their apartments in their absence. (AW)
