A man in New York was charged with attempted murder for attacking a Chinese immigrant amid a spate of attacks on Asian Americans.
Mr. Ma Yao Pan, 61, was assaulted in the East Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan on April 23. New York Police considered it as a hate crime.

Police said he was struck from behind causing him to fall to the ground. He was then kicked multiple times in the head.
The victim is currently under critical condition, Reuters reported.
Jarrod Powell, 49, was arrested and charged with two counts of felony assault and one count of attempted murder. (RA)
