Fonacier will take on the role of a Filipino carer, who uses traditional folk healing to reveal a horrifying truth.
The film is set between London and Manila as its theme explores consumerism, human exploitation and the fast fashion industry. It also showcases the brain’s power in deciding whether to harm or cure the physical body.
The film’s title “Nocebo” is the antonym of “placebo”. It refers to the Nocebo Effect, in which negative thinking on the part of a patient results in a more negative outcome.
Director Finnegan has collaborated with writer Garret Shanley for this film. This is produced by Emily Leo of Wild Swim Films and Brunella Cocchiglia of Lovely Productions.
Filipino co-producers Bianca Balbuena and Bradley Liew of Epic Media is also working with them for this film. (ES)
