8 people confirmed dead in plane crash in MIA

Authorities of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has confirmed the deaths eight people on board a corporate jet that crashed on Sunday evening at the runway of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). 
 
In a press conference at past 10 p.m., Eddie Monreal, the general manager Manila International Airport (MIA), said there was a Canadian and an American national that were among those who did not survive the flight, including the six other Filipinos. 
 
As of now, Monreal said they are currently retrieving the cadavers of these people and the clearing of the runway. 
 
The plane took off at 7:57 p.m. and a few minutes later the incident happened at 8 p.m.
 
A minute later, firefighting unit of MIA responded and was able to control the fire. Unfortunately, nobody survived.

The plane was conducting a medical evacuation and was bound for Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan. 
 
Monreal said they are still investigating the details of the crash and other details on what caused it is still being determined. 
 
Currently, the runway where the crash happened is temporarily closed to international flights. 
 
A flight from South Korea that was bound to land at 10p.m. tonight was diverted to Clark International Airport. 
 
The plane where these passengers were on board was owned by Lion Air. Their fleet may be temporarily grounded, according to Capt. Don Mendoza, deputy director general for operations.
