Tornadoes kill 25 people in Tennessee

Like a ‘war zone,’ a series of tornadoes hit Nashville, Tennessee in the United States killing at least 25 people.
Several other were missing while cities were devastated during the Super Tuesday presidential primary.
In a press conference, Governor William Lee said that the death toll is expected to rise as search and rescue operations continue.
Some people were still trapped in collapsed buildings for more than 15 hours.
“It’s a tragic day in our state, a sad day. There are 25 confirmed fatalities. I spent the day touring and visiting with victims and walking through neighborhoods, and the devastation is heart-breaking. It’s incredible. Prayers are greatly needed,” the governor said.

No exact figures yet on the possible death toll from the tragedy.
Eight tornadoes reportedly struck Tennessee according to the National Weather Service. It remains unclear how many hit Nashville.
At least 30 people were injured. Some 48 buildings were destroyed in Nashville.
“Severe weather and tornados have impacted several counties in Tennessee. Counties with the greatest impacts include Davidson, Wilson, and Putnam Counties,” the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency said on its website.
The storm hit Nashville when residents of almost 700,000 were sleeping. The airport and hangar also suffered significant damage.
