Manila, Philippines– The Iglesia ni Cristo has released the names of the senatorial candidates they will be supporting in the midterm polls tomorrow.
Politicians have been wooing the influential religious group known to practice bloc voting.
Iglesia ni Cristo supports the following Senatorial bets:
– Sonny Angara
– Nancy Binay
– Pia Cayetano
– Ronald Bato Dela Rosa
– Jinggoy Estrada
– Bong Go
– Lito Lapid
– Imee Marcos
– Grace Poe
– Bong Revilla Jr.
– Francis Tolentino
– Cynthia Villar
The INC list is dominated by administration bets except for Grace Poe, Lito Lapid and Nancy Binay.
Some netizens expressed disappointment on the list.
Imee, the daughter of late strongman and dictator Ferdinand Marcos has been facing controversies about her educational background.
The endorsement however is no longer a surprise because losing Vice Presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos also received the INC backing.
Revilla and Estrada were released from prison after their involvement in the multi-billion peso pork barrel scam.
No candidates from the opposition slate ‘Otso Diretso’ made it on the list. Last month charismatic group ‘El Shaddai’ expressed support to 14 candidates including one opposition member Bam Aquino.
