Man in PH loses job due to insensitive posts about recent Luzon quake

A Filipino employee was sacked from his job after making fun of the recent series of earthquakes that was felt in different parts of the country.

Facebook user Brian Velarde Dela Cruz, who works as a store clerk for a famous milk tea brand in the Philippines, irked a lot of netizens when he said that the recent earthquakes were “boring” because no building collapsed.

“BORING NG LINDOL, WALA MAN LANG BUILDING NA BUMAGSAK,” he said.

“09650985443 MAGNITUDE. KAYA PALA ANG LAKAS. HAYS, TM YAN,” he wrote in another post revealing his phone number hoping that someone would send him a text.

Dela Cruz has since deleted the posts and issued a public apology. However, several netizens still took screenshots of it and sent it to the HR department of the company he is working at.

Because of this, his company decided to fire him.

He added that people should not take him seriously because he was only cracking a joke.

Dela Cruz also said he is used to sharing hilarious post and that his friends on social media are aware of that.

“Wala na akong work… Okay na kayo ah,” he said.

He ended his post by saying that people are different. There are those who take life seriously, while there are some people like him who like to crack jokes.

According to the document sent to him by the company, he violated its Policy of Morality.
