Carmina says she’s thankful for past relationship with Rustom Padilla

It has been more than two decades since actress Carmina Villaroel and her ex-husband Rustom Padilla separated, but the former said that will never forget what they have shared in the past.

PEP.ph was able to interview Villaroel during the press conference of her television series “Kara Mia” wherein they asked her about what she feels about Padilla, who now lives as a transwoman named BB Gandanghari.

Villaroel simply said that her past marriage with Padilla is a part of her life that she will never forget.

“It’s my past. As much as gusto kong kalimutan or burahin, we cannot. I cannot delete those chapters in my life. Kung ano ako ngayon, kung papaano ako ngayon as a person, it is because of my past. It is because of my experiences before,” she said.

She added that she learned a lot from her relationship with Padilla that is why she remains thankful for it.

“Natuto na rin ako na wala rin namang mangyayari if ni-regret mo ang isang bagay, di ba? Like I said, you just learn from your mistakes. You just learn from whatever is in your past and ‘wag mo na lang gawin ulit, di ba? Marami naman akong natutunan from that experience so I am thankful,” she said.

Before she became BB Gandanghari, Padilla married Villaroel in 1994 but they separated three years after.

Villaroel filed for annulment which was eventually granted in 2002.

Now, the actress is married to Zoren Legazpi and they have two children, twins Mavy and Cassy.

Meanwhile, Gandanghari now lives in the US wherein she is pursuing a career in modelling and acting.
