South Korea plans to go visa-free for Filipinos

Filipinos might just be able to travel to South Korea visa-free, reports said.

“South Korea is studying the possibility of giving five-day visa-free access to Filipinos,” said a report by GMA News.

“South Korea is more restrictive but is moving in the same direction,” said ASEAN Travel.

The ASEAN Travel quoted the Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) as having explained to local media that it “is still in discussion with relevant authorities such as the Ministry of Justice on this matter, but hopes are great to implement the detailed plan within May of this year.”

“Travellers must have Jeju Island as a final destination although they can transit via other local airports. The program is limited for the time being to groups of selected tour agencies in the Philippines,” said the report.

ASEAN Travel said a similar travel measure could soon be available for Indonesians and Vietnamese.

“If accepted, the new regulation will enter into service by this coming June,” the report added.

“Mas magiging comfortable sa guest na mag-travel if visa-free na nga talaga siya,” travel agency owner Aerianne Rivera also told GMA News.

According to GMA News, South Korea is a beloved detination for K-Pop and Koreanovela fans.
