Lulu Hypermart, one of the region’s major supermarket chains, is planning open a procurement post in the Philippines to facilitate the company’s purchase Filipino goods and other products for the GCC market, said Ambassador Constancio R. Vingno, Jr.
“Magtatayo sila ng office ng Lulu sa Pilipinas. Pinaplano nila ito for this year,” Vingno told The Filipino Times in a phone interview from Abu Dhabi.
He added, “Duon sila mamimili ng mga ibebenta nila dito. Hypermart sila so we are expecting food stuff. Well ahead sila in terms of size of operation in the GCC. Big players sila.”
Vingno, along with Vice Consul Rowena Daquipil and Engr. Jeffrey Uy, Filcom chair, recently met with Yusuff Ali MA, managing director of the Abu Dhabi-based Lulu Group of Companies which owns the Lulu Hypermarket chain in the Middle East. Also in attendance during the meeting are other top company officials.
There reportedly are over 124 Lulu Hypermarkets across the GCC. Just recently, the retail giant opened its 9th store in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
