Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando formalizes his endorsement of the candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo for president in the 2022 polls.
Fernando said the Philippines needed a president who was free of corruption allegations and someone who had a strong faith in God.
“Ikinagagalak ko pong ipahayag sa araw na ito… ang aking taos-pusong suporta sa kandidatura ng ating kasalukuyang Bise Presidente,” Fernando said in a joint press conference with Robredo.
“Let a woman lead. Let Leni lead,” he added.
“Nagpapasalamat po ako na tila nagbubunga lahat ng kilos niyo. Pero ngayong umaga ito ang exclamation point sa lahat ng effort natin. Napakalaking tulong at napakahalagang pagpapasya ito,” Robredo said.
Bulacan is the fifth vote-rich province in the country with over two million voters according to the Commission on Elections.
Former senator Bongbong Marcos led in the province in the 2016 race with some 556,000 votes while Robredo garnered some 366,000 votes.
The camp of Marcos Jr. released a statement yesterday saying Fernando had yet to endorse a candidate.
