The spirit of Bayanihan ripples within the holy month of Ramadan as the Philippine Embassy in UAE and the Emirates Red Cresent (ERC) has reached out to 22 Filipinos who are currently in strict quarantine measures due to preventive measures against the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Philippine Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Hjayceelyn Quintana together with frontliners from the ERC headed by ERC Deputy Secretary General H.E. Rashid Al Mansoori and the embassy worked together to provide food boxes for these Filipinos who called for urgent assistance as they are unable to go out to buy food for themselves.
Ambassador Quintana extended her words of gratitude for the ERC team who has been a reliable partner for the Filipino community here in the UAE and the Philippines all year round.
“We thank the UAE, its leaders and people, for this generous assistance from ERC. It shows how the Emirates community cares for Filipinos in the UAE as truly their own brothers and sisters, made even more significant as the celebration of the holy month of Ramadan begins,” said Quintana.
One of the recipients stated that the assistance from the ERC and the Philippine Embassy will go a long way for their road towards full recovery.
“Our great gratitude to the Philippine Embassy for reaching out with food assistance to us OFWs affected by COVID-19. We pray that with this assistance, our next COVID test results will be negative, and that we will be on the road to recovery. We wish the Embassy staff good health so you can perform your best in serving the Filipinos in UAE,” said the recipient.
In addition, the partnership between the ERC and the Philippine Embassy also provided extensive assistance for several more Filipinos across the other emirates, particularly in Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah with logistical support provided by the Filipino Social Club, a duly-licensed community organization, through the ‘FilSoc Cares’ project.
