Abu Dhabi has set up a smart disinfection gate in its main bus terminal as a precautionary measure against coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) in Abu Dhabi announced Tuesday that a disinfection gate was installed at the entrance of the emirate’s main bus station, Khaleej Times reported.
The said gate has sensors that can detect passengers and automatically spray disinfectants and sterilizing materials upon entering.
It operates daily from 6 PM to 8 PM and will undergo regular sterilization and thorough cleaning.
Disinfection gates will also be placed on bus stations across the emirate to ensure the safety of the public amid threats of COVID-19, according to the ITC.
The center assured the public that it has taken preventive measures since the outbreak of COVID-19, including the extensive cleaning and sterilisation of various public transport modes in line with the directives of the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP).
It also added that it has actively participated in the national disinfection program initiated by the MoHAP.
