More COVID-19 cases outside China reported as cases jump to over 180,000

More people outside China are being reported to have been infected with COVID-19 disease.
The John Hopkins Center for Health Security which has a real-time tracker of COVID-19 cases worldwide reported 185,041 cases as of 8:40am EDT and 7,330 deaths worldwide.
Infected patients who have recovered is gaining momentum at 80,236.

John Hopkins noted that the vast majority of new cases and deaths came from regions outside China.
In Europe, outbreaks of COVID-19 continue to grow. As of March 16, new cases reported in the ff European countries are:
– Italy: 3,233
– Spain: 2,098
– Germany: 1,459
– France:1,210
– Netherlands: 278
– Belgium: 172
– UK: 171
– Austria: 158
– Switzerland: 136
Germany registered the largest daily increase so far yesterday, with 7,272 cases in total.
South Korea, meanwhile, is reporting less than 100 new cases for two days in a row. Japan reported only 13 newly confirmed cases and 4 deaths.

However, Malaysia reported 190 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, more than half of the total number were linked to a religious gathering at a mosque by roughly 16,000 from several countries in early March.
Iran reported 1209 new cases raising the total there to 13,938 cases and 724 deaths.
The US, meanwhile, has reported 3,813 COVID-19 cases and 69 deaths across 49 US states. The largest outbreaks are in New York, Washington and California.
