The smart gates installed at the Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC) were suspended upon recommendation of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and health authorities.
According to Gulf Today, the smart gates have been closed since Sunday, March 8, as a preventive measure against the spread of coronavirus disease.
Dubai airports also intensified measures on passengers arriving from Thailand, Lebanon, Syria, Italy, and People ’s Republic of China-Beijing.
Seven gates – six in Terminal 3 and one in Terminal 1 -were allocated for the screening of passengers arriving from high-risk locations.
Dubai Health Authority (DHA) already sent a team at the airport to conduct thermal screening and nasal swab samples for passengers suspected with COVID-19.
