The Department of Health (DOH) revealed that at least 11 people are now labeled as ‘persons under investigation’ (PUIs) for being suspected of contracting the 2019 novel coronavirus in the Philippines.
The suspected cases were recorded from Central Visayas (1 person), Western Visayas (9 people), and National Capital Region (3).
In a media briefing in Malacañang, Health Secretary Francisco Duque said that the PUIs are all foreigners and are in hospitals in Metro Manila (2), Mimaropa (1), Northern Mindanao (1), Western Visayas (3), Eastern Visayas (1) and Central Visayas (3).
The health department said that the PUIs are in quarantine.
The DOH, however, clarified that there is no confirmed case of the deadly virus in the country.
The health chief said that those under investigation had travel history to Wuhan, the ground zero of the outbreak.
They are still waiting for the results of the test of the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.
