New strain of coronavirus reaches South Korea

South Korean authorities confirmed its first case of the SARS-like virus, which originated from a seafood market in the city of Wuhan, central China, on Monday, January 20.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Korea (KCDC) identified the victim as a 35-year-old Chinese woman who traveled from Wuhan for the Lunar New Year.
KCDC reported that the Chinese woman was admitted to a hospital in Wuhan on Saturday because of colds.
She was prescribed with medication before flying to Incheon airport, where she was placed under quarantine.
Korean authorities were investigating her movement on the plane and those who might have met her, including flight attendants, as per reports from Rappler.
Authorities furthered that the woman did not visit the seafood market nor came into contact with any of the infected patients.
Earlier, Chinese authorities vowed to heighten the monitoring and screening of travelers following the spread of the outbreak to other cities such as Beijing and Shenzhen.
The number of infected to the new strain of coronavirus in China has spiked to 198 as of press time.
