The Sharjah Criminal Court has sentenced a 43-year old man from Sudan to 10 years’ imrprisonment for murdering a 46-year-old man and stabbing a woman and her daughter in an elevator in Sharjah’s Al Butaina area in January last year.
The court also ordered him to pay Dh200,000 blood money to the family of the victim identified as Naggi Shaikh Edriss.
Khaleej Times reported that the man will serve his jail time for seven years for the murder case and three years for the assault.
The man will also be deported after his jail period.
UAE police received information and rushed to the crime scene where they found a woman and a kid bleeding while the Sudanese man was already dead.
The suspect was immediately arrested and admitted that he had committed the crimes because of psychological pressure arising from family problems.
The Indian woman told the court that the convict got into their elevator and when its door closed, he stabbed her daughter with a knife.
When the elevator reached the floor where she resides, she screamed for help and the Sudanese man came in to save them.
The suspect stab the man in the chest that killed him in that moment. (TN)
