The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology or BJMP has released 42 of the 46 individuals acquitted in the Ampatuan massacre case.
Their release comes a day after the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) found them not guilty of the 2009 massacre.
BJMP Spokesperson Xavier Solda said that out of the 58 individuals acquitted, 46 were under them.
Solda said the release process was not challenging because their documents and records were ready even before the promulgation or verdict came out last Thursday.
The official said that only 42 were allowed to be released because the remaining four still have pending cases.
Some 40 individuals were released last Thurday, two more were freed on Friday.
