An Asian construction worker in Dubai killed his roommate just because he was scared to return to his home country after family got furious when they received photographs showing him naked.
The unnamed worker waited for his friend to go to bed then wrapped a piece of cloth round his neck and strangled him.
Police said the worker confessed to the crime and told investigators that he preferred to stay in the UAE instead of going back home to face his family.
“He told police that he strangled his friend because he would rather stay in the UAE, even in prison, than to return home…he said he was scared of facing his brother and other family members after they received pictures of him standing naked in an obscene position,” Emarat Al Youm daily said.
In a court on Monday, the defendant appeared to have fulfilled his dream when the judge found him guilty of pre-meditated murder and sentenced him to life in prison.
