Filipino doctor killed in Las Vegas multiple car crash, wife in critical condition

A 67-year-old Filipino doctor died while his wife is in critical condition following a tragic multiple car crash believed caused by an intoxicated driver in Las Vegas yesterday.

The Filipino’s identity was later confirmed as Dr. Marcial Escobia by his brother, Augustus Escobia, communications head of the Bohol Provincial Capitol.

Dr. Marcial Escobia and wife, Nimfa were both on board the car when the incident happened, according to reports.

Sixty-five-year-old Nimfa was still at the University Medical Center as of press time, for treatment after sustaining several life-threatening injuries, a report from Las Vegas Review Journal said.

According to a separate report by Fox5 Las Vegas, the crash involved six cars and a Regional Transportation (RTC) bus.

Reportedly, the couple was driving a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder when the accident happened at the intersection of South Rainbow Boulevard and West Tropicana Avenue at around 8 a.m.

Three other drivers of two other cars and the RTC bus were taken to other hospitals after sustaining moderate and serious injuries.

The Escobias’ car was hit by another vehicle while they were crossing the intersection.

The driver of the Avalon that hit their car was identified as 34-year-old Kevin Raspperry, who was suspected of being under the influence and was arrested.

He is facing charges for the death of Dr. Escobia, the injury of others and four counts of reckless driving resulting in death or injury.
