A Russian Embassy official has revealed that the deal between the Philippines and Russia on deploying Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) is not yet a done deal.
Russian Embassy Spokesperson Natalia Linovitskaya said that the proposed deal by Labor Secretary Silvestro Bello is not set in stone, as per an interview with the Manila Bulletin .
“I heard that some kind of labor agreement will be signed, it’s not true,” said Linovitskaya.
The proposed OFW deal is under consideration, but she insists that it has to undergo expert consultations before such kind of deal pushes through.
“Maybe, he just announced it that we are open to having a labor agreement, we are beginning to talk. They will have an expert consultation on this agreement but they will not sign it,” the Russian spokesperson said.
Linotvistkaya added that the two countries are expected to sign at least five agreements on health, nuclear energy, and political frameworks.
Duterte is set to make his second visit to Russia on the first week of October.
