Bureau of Corrections Director General Nicanor Faeldon said he sees no reason to quit his post amid the controversy hounding the Good Conduct Time Allowance Law (GCTA).
Senator Risa Hontiveros called out Faeldon’s “incompetence” in running the agency and for releasing convicts under the GCTA law.
“Sa kaliwa’t-kanang kapalpakan at pagkukulang tungkol sa GCTA, mga simpleng tanong pero hirap sagutin na dapat alam na alam niyo agad, kailan po kayo magre-resign sa inyong pwesto bilang BuCor head?” Hontiveros asked.
“I believe no,” Faeldon said. The BuCor Chief added.
Faeldon said that it was President Rodrigo Duterte who appointed him as BuCor and it is also him who can take it back.
“I would defer that question to the appointing authority,” he said.
Lawmakers have been calling for Faeldon’s resignation amid the possible release of former Calauan, Laguna Mayor and rape-slay convict Antonio Sanchez.
