Saudi authorities have launched a manhunt in search of a group of Asian men accused of illegally slaughtering at least 40 camels.
A video carried by Sada newspaper showed camel carcasses are strewn on sand in a remote desert area just outside the Western town of Makkah.
Sada said the Asians butchered the camels outside official slaughterhouses in violation of rules for Eid Al Adha (feast of sacrifice) that ended this week.
The Asians sold some of the camel meat before vanishing from the area after they were seen by passers-by, who called the police.
“Police in Makkah have mounted a massive search operation to find those responsible,” the paper said.
