Kuwait has told its police to stop chasing offending cars on roads following a series of deadly accidents resulting from such acts, newspapers reported on Friday.
In a circular, the Interior Ministry asked all police centres in the wealthy Gulf emirate only to take plate numbers of cars which refuse to stop.
“Following the recent incidents which resulted in some casualties, all police patrols are asked to stop chasing cars which refuse to stop for any reason,” it said.
Police patrols that suspect other cars can take their plate numbers so the offenders could be brought to justice, it added.
But the circular said police patrols are permitted to “chase other cars in emergency cases but they require approval from the Interior Ministry.”
