Duterte greets Pinoy Muslims ‘Eid Mubarak’, asks them to deepen their faith

President Rodrigo Duterte joins the Filipino Muslim community in celebrating the Feast of Sacrifice or Eid Al Adha.

The Chief Executive greeted them ‘Eid Mubarak’ and urged Muslims to strenthen their resolve in order to bring a better society.

“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, I join our Muslim brothers and sisters in observing Eid’l Adha or the Feast of the Sacrifice,” Duterte said in his message.

Eid Al Adha is one of the most important holidays in Muslim calendar. It is about the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim or Abraham to sacrifice his own son Ishmael to obey Allah’s command.

“Ibrahim’s complete willingness to offer the life of his beloved son, in obedience to Allah’s divine command, is one of the most memorable demonstrations of faith of all time. This account not only teaches us the importance of personal sacrifice, but also inculcates in us the value of submission to a higher authority, even though, at times, our feelings and emotions compel us otherwise,” Duterte said.

The President said that this can also be related to the present times and thus there is a need to deepen their faith and strengthen their resolve for a better society.

“Let us, therefore, reflect on the lessons we can learn today to deepen our faith and strengthen our resolve to bring about a society that is worthy of Allah’s continued blessings and protection,” Duterte added.

“May you have a meaningful observance! Eid Mubarak!” Duterte wrote.
