Civil defense men saved many residents, including women and children, from a fire that swept through the third floor in a building in Ajman on Wednesday.
Five children and three women suffered from smoke choking but were treated on the spot as firemen battled the blaze and brought it under control before spreading to other floors, the Ajman Civil Defense said.
All building residents were evacuated to safety before the fire was extinguished in less than an hour, Civil Defense director Brigadier Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi said.
“No one was hurt in the incident…we are investigating the cause of the fire and again we urge people to be careful and abide by safety rules,” he added.
