Phl’s young workforce expected to attract AI jobs

The Philippines’ young workforce is expected to attract jobs using artificial intelligence (AI), which is expected to rise in the future, Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez said on Monday.

Lopez noted that around 700,000 Filipino youth graduate and enter the job market every year, and 75,000 of the graduates are trained in science, technology and mathematics or STEM.

He believes the country’s young workforce will attract jobs using AI in the same way that Filipino labor attracted business process outsourcing companies.
“Our competitive advantage is really our human capital,” Lopez was quoted in an ABS-CBN report as saying.

“From the government side, what we have to do is really scale up the capabilities, human capital development and skills development so that we can prepare how to manage AI as part of the industry,” he added.
