The daughter of former Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, Katrina Ponce-Enrile, fires back at a meme that jokes about the death of her father.
A social media post said: “BREAKING NEWS. Former Senator and notable Filipino politician Juan Ponce Enrile, who is a key figure in the ouster of former Philippine President Ferdinand E. Marcos, quietly passed by his bedroom door this morning. He is 95.”
The meme at first glance may mean that the senator has died but reading it carefully it only means that he ‘passed by’ his bedroom door.
“My father is still alive. It’s alarming to get so many messages asking me if my dad just passed away. He is actually eating right now,” Katrina said.
Enrile’s daughter also said that she knows the person who is behind this ‘bad joke’.
“You are a heartless human being to think that it even constitutes as being humorous or entertaining! And if you wish that upon anyone, then shame on you,” she added.
