Increase in humidity, fair weather prevails over UAE

Fair to partly cloudy weather with higher relative humidity has prevailed over United Arab Emirates today and it is expected to continue tomorrow morning.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said relative humidity is expected to increase tonight and tomorrow morning, particularly over Northern coastal areas.

Earlier, NCM said it was expecting humidity levels to reach 90 percent this week, with the highest humidity expected on Sunday and Monday.

Moderate Northwestly winds will gradually freshen westwards late at night.

Sea will be rough in Arabian Gulf by late night, but it will remain moderate in Oman Sea.

Meanwhile, heat slightly went down in the UAE.

Heat in Al Ain went down to 48C, almost two degrees lower than Sunday’s 49.9C. Temperature in Abu Dhabi was also lower at 45C, Dubai and Ajman at 44C, Sharjah at 43C, Fujairah at 40C and Ras Al Khaimah at 39C.

Heat was worst last Sunday. In Mezaira and Sweihan near Al Ain, temperature went as high as 49.9C. The intense heat also claimed a child’s life. A six-year-old boy died in Dubai after he was left on a bus on Saturday.

Authorities started to enforce the midday break. Outside labourers should rest from 12.30 pm to 3:00 pm every day starting June 15 to September 15.
