WATCH: Cabbie faces suspension for demanding extra fee from foreigners

Austrian travel vloggers Michael and Nelly used to share their happy experiences in the Philippines. But recently, they documented a different story: a rude Filipino taxi driver asking for extra fee.

Michael and Nelly boarded the taxi at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). While on their way to Makati City, the taxi driver, identified as Jhumil Bule of Taytay, Rizal allegedly demanded extra payment because of their heavy luggage.

“Once we left, he said the meter grade is not valid, so that was our concern. At that time, we took out our phone to document,” Michael told GMA News Wednesday night.

“You can’t charge us for the luggage or we can call your company,” he added.

Michael and Nelly also told Bule they have visited the Philippines many times before, hence they are familiar with tactics to scam foreigners.

In response, Bule told the vloggers to get out of the taxi and asked them to stop taking videos of him but they continued, saying it was “for their safety.”

Bule drove fast. When Michael and Nelly reached their destination, they were unable to get their change for the P1,000 bill they paid because Bule claimed he had no loose bills.

The incident was reported to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).

MIAA general manager Ed Monreal confronted Bule, and ordered his fleet of taxi to be temporarily banned at NAIA.

LTFRB chairperson Martin Delgra said Bule’s license and taxi franchise might also be suspended or worse, cancelled.

As for Michael and Nelly, they said they would continue visiting the Philippines.

“We had a million good experiences in the Philippines and only one bad experience,” they said
