DUBAI: Thousands of the Catholic faithful thronged to churches across the UAE this past weekend to here the Good Friday Mass and, as well, celebrate the resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday.
“Bagong buhay, bagong simula,” said Fr. Chito Bartolo, OPM, Cap, St Mary’s Church assistant parish priest and Filcom spiritual director.
He said that with these new beginnings, Catholics should face the challenges ahead with comfort in the thought that Jesus Christ is guiding them through.
There were nine masses held at the church with the first having started at 5:30am and the last, which is in Arabic happening at 9pm.
On Good Friday, Fr. Bartolo officiated a mass during which he preached about the love of God in his homily. There also were nine masses including one in Malayalam, one in Tamil, another in Urdu, Singhalese, English and Arabic.
