An honorary consul who has been reportedly egging to get his accreditation from Malacanang has been “fired” by Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr.
Locsin didn’t mention the honorary consul whom he “fired” or removed diplomatic privileges, but hinted that he has connections in Malacanang, including presidential adviser Michael Yang.
“To honorary consul who complained to Malacanang about its delay of his accreditation. Know 2 things: (1) post is a privilege; a light one, appointment must be approved however long it takes. (2) you’re fired,” Locsin said in his Twitter feed.
“Appeal to Malacanang & I will kick you too. [glaring word] you whoever you are,” he added.
Locsin described the overzealousness of the honorary consul as “asinine behavior”.
An honorary consul is someone appointed by another country which has no official diplomatic representatives in Manila. They are usually Filipino influential businessmen who can also promote the economic interests of the country they are representing.
“If I see this [glaring word] I will kick his face even if he has friends in the Palace. [Glaring words],” Locsin tweeted.
“Thank you for your patience Michael Yang,” Locsin added, referring to the presidential adviser and Davao businessman whom President Duterte described to be very close Chinese Ambassador Zhao Jianhua. Next time just give me the address of any asshole who complains to you and I will take care of him my way EJK (extra-judicial killing),” he said.
The DFA accredits all honorary consuls or consuls generals who will then be accorded be limited diplomatic privileges.
Locsin said other honorary consuls are not as bad and “are such a help to the Philippines and such an honor to the countries they represent, my deepest appreciation and thanks for your service.”
“You stand out even brighter in your service for the asinine behavior [glaring word],” he added.
