A new law now allows employees of the government of Dubai to request for 13 types of leaves starting January 2019.
According to the Dubai Government Human Resources Management Law No. 8 of 2018, government employees can now use the following leaves:
1. Annual leave
2. Sick leave
3. Maternity leave
4. Paternity leave
5. Mourning leave
6. Leave for death-related events
7. Haj vacation
8. Participation in events
9. Accompanying sick leave
10. Leave for partner

Under the law, the number of days for the annual leave of the employees will depend on their working grades. The new law also details that leave requests that remain unresponded for 10 days will be considered as approved.
The law also outlines the grounds of applying for leaves such as paternity leave, sick leave for civil servants, and leave for death-related events, among others.
