The UAE Cabinet issued a decision declaring November 29 as the celebration of the Commemoration Day, previously known as Martyr’s Day.
The original date of the celebration is November 30. However, since the date falls on a weekend, the Cabinet decided to move the date to November 29, Thursday, to make way for the ceremonies that will be undertaken by ministries and institutions across the country, reported WAM.
Commemoration Day will see the UAE flag raised at half mast at 8:00 a.m., and a minute of silence at 11:30 a.m., followed by the raising of the UAE flag and the national anthem.
President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan declared that November 30 of each year would be Commemoration Day, in recognition of the sacrifices the UAE’s martyrs gave to perform their duties to the homeland and keeping the UAE flag high.
Where did you get the information that this commemoration day is a public holiday, as there is no local newspaper that categorically mentioned as such?
Kindly clarify that UAE cabinet declares November 29 as public holiday. Other sources mentioned only UAE cabinet declares ceremonies on November 29 instead of November 30.
