Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is set to increase the terminal fees for both international and domestic flights starting April 2019.
The proposed increase will generate additional funds for the improvement and maintenance of airport facilities, Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal said in a report by GMA News.
“Sa international flights from P550 may karagdagang P200, at P100 naman sa domestic so magiging P300 [from P200],” Monreal added.
The terminal fee increase is also expected to add at least one percent to the NAIA’s revenue.
“If walang increase we are expecting deficit in next couple of years,” Monreal said.
The MIAA Chief cleared that the overseas Filipino workers are still exempted from paying terminal fees amid the planned hike.
The implementation of the increase in terminal fees will start in the first quarter of 2019 or by April 1.
