20 OFWs in Saudi Arabia get kicked out from company-provided accommodation

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Tuesday that around 20 overseas Filipino workers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia got displaced from their accommodation provided by their company.

The OFWs got kicked out of the place after they refused to work due to unpaid salaries and food allowance, reported ABS-CBN.

The DFA released a statement saying that the displaced OFWs are now under the care of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO).

POLO is also now coordinating with the OFWs’ recruitment agencies in the Philippines to process their repatriation.

Philippine Consul General to Jeddah Edgar Badajos also said Labor Attaché Nasser Munder and Welfare Officer Yolanda Peñaranda immediately took custody of the OFWs who have not been receiving any pay from their companies for the past two months.

The report stated that the OFWs were recruited by a major Saudi recruitment agency. Upon their request, the agency transferred them to their present company.
